Mechanical Passive Explosion Isolation and Mechanical Active Explosion Isolation

BS&B has several options for both Mechanical Passive Explosion Isolation and Mechanical Active Explosion Isolation.  Using Active or Passive Valves and Systems BS&B can provide a solution to your application.

Mechanical Passive Explosion Isolation such as Flap Valves or Float Valves offer:

Mechanical Active Explosion Isolation such as Pinch Valve, Knife Gate Valves, or Flap Valves are also available and can be part of a complete explosion protection system from BS&B.

The Active Explosion Isolation Pinch Valve (Type IVE Acting Pinch Valve) is designed to respond in the manner of an ‘air bag’ in a vehicle, when the IVE isolation valve is directed to close, an inflatable bladder immediately fills the body cavity to stop product flow and arrest flame propagation. This operating mode minimizes the reaction forces generated by the IVE valve. The BS&B Type IVE valve is available in sizes from 4” to 16” nominal diameter (100mm to 400mm). Activation of the valve can be by BS&B supplied pressure or optical sensors.

The Active Explosion Isolation Knife-Gate Valves have the following performance features:

• Enables safe explosion protection in the pipe system without any pressure drop
• Available in three different versions and is suitable for dust, gas and in CIP-applications
• Short installation distances thanks to compact design
• Flexible installation at any angle
• Approved for organic and metallic dusts, hybrid mixtures and gases
